I agree with many of the complaints about POF. Women say they are looking for a relationship, and when you met them, they just want to date, pics are not up to date. I can identify at least a dozen bogus profiles where the person writes you back with one line answers only, cannot talk about the town they live in or details of what they do for a living or where. Or, they start to talk with you for a week or so and get chummy, and then for no reason stop.
They say they want to meet right away, but continue to make excuses why they can't. Some of the profiles look they have no idea what spell check is for. I have found more than one profile written word for word with different pictures on it.
I have been on it for about 18 months, and I would say I have only met 2 sincere women on here out of maybe 12 actual dates, and probably 40-50 conversations online.
The ploy the website uses with these bogus profiles and having the person chat you up is to get you to 'upgrade' your membership to a paying status, because let's face it, 'free' sites don't make any revenue, and it's all about making revenue.
Think about it, you are off the site for awhile, and you receive no 'meet me' messages from anyone, and then you go on the site to look around, and all of a sudden you start getting messages from no one you viewed! I have on my profile that if you hit the 'meet me' button, that you need to send me a message also because I am not a paying member, and I can't 'see you' any other way.
If the person hits the 'met me' button, they can see your profile and your message. I suppose the people that view me just can't read. Just beware!

For every girl that seems real and interesting, she is either a million miles away but is one of your matches or obsessed with god or $$ and all happy creepy. Pointless.
