I find that the problem with OKCupid is that because it is free, anyone can join for free and this attracts people who may be looking for someone, or those who are only looking to be entertained. I think that there are some people on the website who are truly searching for that someone, as it would be unreasonable to say otherwise, but if you are using the website to find that perfect match then I would say that it would be very difficult to do so using OKCupid.
I found that a lot of members that were on the site and who weren’t scammers (there was a lot of that going on as well), were just looking for casual relationships, and because the site is free, figured that they could get away with it. This is fine if that is what you are looking for, but if you are looking to truly date someone to find out if they could be potential soul mates then be careful how you tread and who you talk to.
Another drawback of the site, other than the community, is that the website does not purge the non-users – those that have signed up to use it but are inactive. This creates a lot of profiles that may be getting hits but are not responding to chat messages or e-mails and it causes a lot of disappointment in those who are actually hopeful at finding someone.
I wouldn’t recommend this site if you are using it to find your true love, but if you are looking to just meet people on-line, perhaps hook up, or have some friendships, then it would serve the purpose well.
