It is true there is an initial sign-up fee that we charge to deter random profile injection by scammers, but the fee is completely refundable if our user requested a refund due to dissatisfaction after using the site with full privileges. Most other sites allow you to have a free profile, but do not let you initiate messages. We want to attract members who are serious about entering a relationship.
On the point about photo requirement. Yes, there is a high probability that your profile may get rejected if you do not submit a photo. The photo is not a mandatory requirement on the online registration form because sometimes the user has trouble uploading a photo due to size restrictions.
One can always request to remove their profile. There is no fee whatsoever associated with removing profile. The person (mameyer) has totally mis-represented this part.
We do not engineer or try to orchestrate communication using fake users to entice users to stay on the site. mameyer's complaint of not having received any profile responses is not something we can control. We do not get involved in the dynamics of romance and mutual attraction between two individuals. The value of our site is to provide a platform for initial introduction and visibility.
