I am currently in talks with Consumer Direct as I believe I was misled into rejoining MSF due to an email I received.
I was a member of mysinglefriend for some months (during which time I can say I was very happy with the experience as a whole) and then unjoined. I received an email notifying me that a member had sent me a message. This was a member I was interested in communicating with.
I paid my subscription to rejoin the site only to find it was an automated mail sent by a member clicking the "No thanks" button. The user did not type one single word or sentence and so there can be no doubt that I did NOT receive a message from a member.
MSF refused to refund me the £22 subscription charge and so I had to contact Consumer Direct to address the blatant underhanded tactics employed by the company. Consumer Direct agreed that I had a case and I am currently in the process of getting the payment reversed via my Credit Card company (who also agree I have a case).
Mysinglefriend made it very difficult for me to contact them and even went so far as telling me "I'm afraid we don't give out our office address details.".
If anyone has suffered the same mistreatment - I advise you to contact Consumer Direct. They confirm that mine wasn't the only complaint directed at MSF and if we get enough people to complain - trading standards will intervene which is now my main priority.
