I signed up at the Jewish Cafe's and began my 15-day free trial. I subsequently emailed a few women I found interesting. I received no notification that I had any mail until....wait for it...the very morning after, "your trial has expired". I now had to join to in order to read the mail.
Could this be just a wacky coincidence? Perhaps the women all wrote back to me at the same time. Considering I'd written a number of days ago, that seems unlikely.
What's more likely...it's a teaser technique to compel people to join up. For all I know, the unread mail is from the Jewish Cafe management notifying me that my trail is about to expire.
For me, or any thoughtful person, this sort of ingenuousness reveals the site for what it is...a business more concerned with quantity than quality.
Had they simply allowed me to read just one email, I might have joined in order to read the others. But this highly unlikely scenario puts in question the integrity of the entire site.
