Flirtbox

FlirtBox is a free picture personals site with messaging, chatrooms, photo voting and a user forum. The site is organized by country and state with different portals for each. On creating a profile, you'll be asked to provide a username, and to indicate your country and your state.

Creating a Personal Page

Your "personal home" page on the site will be created to display these pieces of information. The signup itself is rather fiddly and error prone.

It took me several attempts before I was able to successfully create a profile without receiving an error message. Once you've completed the initial registration, you'll be prompted to add some additional information the first time you go online.

What You'll Find

The site itself offers a decent range of tools and features. It also has a reasonably large user base. Using the quick search, it's possible to enter gender, sexual interest, and age range. You can also specify country and city. However you'll need to type in the city name so exact spelling is required.

You can also specify the other person's occupation, but again you'll need to type this in as it's free text. Any spelling mistakes or alternative spellings here will likely return an empty list.

This is the only search tool available; however a list of members (called the "flirt match" list) is shown on the side panel. Clicking on a name will display their profile, and from there you can message them, block them, or add them to your favorites list. Click "do you want to meet me" if you like the person and they'll be notified of your interest. You can also click the "who'd like to meet me" link in your Flirtbox menu, and you'll see a list of those members who've shown an interest in you.

It's Quirky!

FlirtBox is decent, original, though slightly quirky site. If you can manage to navigate the tricky layout, you'll find it offers a good selection of features and has an adequate number of users to make it worthwhile joining.

Particularly since the services are all free. As the name suggests, this is probably not a site where you'd go to look for a long-term relationship, but rather a place to "hang out" online and enjoy some light-hearted flirting.
