It's interesting to hear about others experiences. I'm on my third 'three month' subscription and I have to say that my experience with eHarmony has been that it sucks - and I will not be renewing again. When I originally joined last year, I admit I wasn't really quite ready to date but was pushing myself to 'get out there'. That said, I got a lot of matches (almost too many to handle) but very little contact and only about 2-3 guys were even remotely attractive anyway. I'm not superficial but let's be honest - if you're not attracted physically at all nothing is going to happen - except maybe friendship. I gave it a second chance about six months later and had a marginally better experience - a bit more contact and met two guys in real life who were okay but no match at all. This third time is the worst of all!! I'm hardly receiving any matches, and the ones I do get are all 'flex matches' and I've received next to no contact. I can count on one hand over the past year the number of matches I've received of attractive men - and no I'm not looking for George Clooney. Many of the matches I receive are for older, overweight and/or bald men (sorry - I like hair). I don't overrate myself by any means but realistically am an attractive, fit 39 year old (who looks younger than her age) with a lot going for me. I'm looking for men in the 39-49 age category - hardly unreasonable.
What I find is this: the guided communication is slow; it never seems to get past the Must Haves/Can't Stands so you have to be aggressive about emailing a guy right away otherwise they just seem to sit back and do nothing. I'd say at least 40% of men don't even post a photo, or they post images that are so far away you can't tell what they look like or of their dogs or whatever. Some put next to no information in their profile, while others go on “ad nauseum†making themselves sound like their life is so amazing you wonder why they are on the site in the first place and not just dating themselves. Some days I'll get 10 matches a day and then nothing for a week. Matches are NOT what I'm looking for - I've had a lot sent to me who are well over 50 - one was even in his 60's. Plus, the fee is expensive. I thought it might weed out the players but find you have no more success even with a substantial cost. I guess it has worked for some people but after giving it the old college try - I'm over it. Waste of time and money.
