I would give this site 0 stars if I could. Initially had a good experience but been caught out by the auto-renewal. Initially signed up for 6 months not realising that my subscription would be auto-renewed. They do not provide you with a reminder beforehand - very sneaky. I even had suspended my account after one month so had only used the service for one month and ended up paying for 12!
Customer service is appalling - called and spoke to them. Expecting any reasonable company to see I had not even used the service and as the auto-renewal is in the small print in the Terms and conditions that through good will they would at least offer a part refund - no such luck. Complete refusal and just saying it was my fault as I had not read the terms and conditions. I have never been treated this way before and something should be done about this. I cannot understand how this is even legal. I would recommend anyone who is thinking about signing up for anything like this to read the small print as if they can take your money they will.

I am an ex-member of DD and I deleted my account very easily. I liked DD very much, met some great people, including a very special lady, and so I did not need DD any more after that.
Deleting your complete account on DD is very, very simple. There is a link to do this at the bottom of one of the pages (can't remember if it is on your profile page, but it is very easy to find.) You are given the choice of either suspending your account, which simply means your profile will be hidden and will not show up in other members' searches, or of completely deleting your account together with all the information you have put on your profile. It could not be easier, they make it very simple, and you get a final message on screen, just before you click on the final link to delete your account, warning you that everything will be deleted/removed and you will not be able to log in again and/or recover your profile details.
Furthermore, you also get a message telling you that deleting your account does not automatically cancel your subscription and that you have to call them on the phone number they give, and it will then be cancelled.
This is one of the world's leading dating sites that has millions of members worldwide (the great majority of whom are very satisfied). Do you really think they are interested in trying to cheat you out of your money, or that they need to operate in that way. They have grown to be what they are because they are good. Should be obvious to anybody who would just give it a moment's thought.
I really do not understand why it is so hard for you. All I can say is that school must have been extremely difficult for you lot.
Instead of coming on here to whine about how terrible it all is, and how they have "ripped you off" and what crooks they are, why not just find the link, delete your account and make the phone call to ensure your subscription is cancelled. (doh)
