As you might expect from the name, this is an online dating community for single people who are looking for romance or friendship with a Caribbean match.

Around 37,000 people visit the site on a regular basis - which means it is a bit smaller than similar sites like Amigos.com or ColombianCupid. On the plus side it is still growing.

Getting Started

Signing up is free of charge and as a new joiner you'll have the option to create a detailed profile in both word and video. After creating a profile, new joiners can enjoy near total access to the site - which includes browsing photos, reading profiles, sending flirts, creating hot lists, and even sending emails.

There are some restrictions on messaging (see below) for non-payers and you'll also have to put up with a few advertisements.

Finding People

Cupid Media sites (of which Caribbean Cupid is one) offer an excellent choice of search tools: My Matches, will give you and instant list of people who are most compatible with you based on your stated preferences (you can change these settings at any time by selecting your profile tab).

Other searches allow you to refine your preferences further - the advanced search offers the most customization. Everything from ethnic background to family values and religious beliefs can be set. The latest photos, and popular members are fun searches which add novelty value.

Premium Accounts

Instant messaging and video mail are available if you choose to upgrade to one of the paid premium accounts - premium members are also listed first in searches which means you are likely to receive more responses.

The main advantage of upgrading however is that you will be granted unrestricted access to email. Paid members can communicate with anyone on the site, whereas free account holders can only correspond with paying members. Unfortunately there isn't any way to search on membership status.

If you do happen to meet someone who sparks your interest, an English/Spanish translator is offered in order to bridge communication gaps.
