BlackCupid is especially for Black and Afro American singles living in the US or elsewhere else. You can create a profile, upload photos and videos and search for people and show interest. For full messaging access along with other premium features you'll need to become a premium member.
How it Works
After filling out a basic form, you can say hello to the community by creating a fun, interesting profile and uploading up to five photos. Standard membership will give enough access to check the site and decide if it's worth going further. To gain unlimited access you need to upgrade with a premium account.
The Community
BlackCupid has a partner site AfroIntroductions that's much larger but offers a similar range of features and membership packages.
BlackCupid has mostly black and colored singles, but there are also other races. Inside I found it open and welcoming to people of any race. There are lots of male/female interracial connections to be found there. So anything goes.
Features
The layout and available features match those of other dating sites. There's a well equipped set of messaging tools, video options and language translators - though most of which are only available to paying members.
If you opt for a Gold or Platinum account you also receive higher priority in searches and are able to receive messages from Standard (non paying members). So anyone can get in touch with you. This gives you access to a much wider pool of daters than do free accounts.
Without the upgrade you will only be able to communicate with paying members (the main disadvantage). If you do try to send messages to another non paying member, those messages will be stored (the recipient will not be able to read them) until either one of you upgrades.
In Brief
BlackCupid is a small, but buzzing community of singles seeking all types of relationships. They openly welcome people of all races to join - in order to help create a quality online group. They serve an international clientèle and the language translator is a helpful addition.
If you are happy to be a member of a small and select community, BlackCupid will suit you. But sometimes there are only a handful of people online at any given time. If you want to be part of a bigger group I suggest to check-out AfroIntroductions.
